I've just cleaned the mechanism of one of my Smiths Clocks. Inside the case it is dated '4 Dec 1950'.
No... I don't normally keep clock parts on my dinner plates - the plate was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'll take some photos this weekend. I've actually already put the clock together but it's not a happy clock - it's meant to run for 30 hours after being wound up but it stopped short today... so I'll take it apart again. I suspect one of the gears must be suffering from a little 'tatiness'.
